In general these are good concepts to remember when building it, but you really want to be careful with shielding as it can, and often does, make things worse. Same goes for decoupling noise from the supply lines and away from IO/AD lines, too much bulk capacitance and you can run into power issues, too little and you get a noisy signal!Something to keep in mind as you start adding sensors and such, if weird shit starts happening (that you can't trace down to the code), look to your hardware. Proper decoupling and clean power go a long way. If you suspect a noise issue somewhere use shielding to see if you can track it down.
Nice board too! The smallest package type I'm familiar with is 144 pin LQFP, and I wasn't very good at soldering with them.
