Oil filter relocation kit and engine oil levels?

If a car has an oil filter relocation kit, do you need to pour in more engine oil to compensate for the increased volume of kit, or still just go buy what the dipstick says?

Go by the dipstick. Fill with engine oil, run for 5 minutes, shut it down and check again. Top it off as necessary.

The manual says that the system holds 4.6L. I first pour in one 4L bottle and it already says that its full on the dipstick. I usually pour in another 0.3L, since the oil filter sits above in the engine bay.

Not sure which kit I've got, since it was on the car when I got it from Japan. It was installed in a pretty awkward spot as well, between the firewall and intake plenum. Might see if I can move it to some place better...

I've not seen people use that space for anything else anyway...generally it allows the use of more/larger filters and is easier to get to during oil changes

Only thing I could think of is a single turbo build maybe? Do you need more/larger filters? And you still have to get under to drain oil lol
