You can buy H or HL.
You can buy H or HL.
How much flow would I really lose in using a 9b or converted 15g exhaust wheel and housing? As opposed to using the TD04HL? I know spool will be faster using the 9b wheel and housing, but I will lose some top end flow against the HL
theres a good thread on 3si i found using google the other day but i cant find it
19T's work reasonably well with an L wheel, best with an HL... I wouldn't have much confidence in that compressor working very well with a standard TD04 wheel.
A Volvo 15G is a TD04HL.
Stealth316 lists the differences in the wheels. Between the stock 9b and the HL is quite a lot.

Well that sucks. Didn't know that. Hmm looks like I may have to rethink this, or splurge for their HL turbine wheel and machine the 9b exh housing. That realistically puts me in the $800 range or so though, so might as well have Dan or someone build be 19t's for $900...depending on what results we see from them![]()
Somebody posted this link somewhere else but it's worth reviewing.

Thanks for the link...well I think for now I may just rebuild my 15g's if they are smoking when I drop the DP over the weekend, and use the spare set of 9b's to either make some 19t's or send them off somewhere to be built for me..
Well after further research it looks like it will just be too inefficient to use 19T HL compressor wheels with the stock TD04 9B CHRA. I would at the very least have to buy some MHI TD04HL CHRA's and then fit the compressor housings and 19T wheels onto them to see any good results. Just sounds like too much expense for too little gain on the stock 9B CHRA's...so I will be saving my spare 9b's and sending them off to Midwest Turbo or something to have them built to 19t's in the future unless I can think of a more feasible way of doing this

all you would then need to do is machine your exhaust housing to fit the new wheel. Only thing is they don't state what wheel it is. Maybe email them.
