8th Anniversary Gators/Birthday Gathering on Feb 2

That's right! It's that time again, and next week (Wed Feb 2) we'll be celebrating our 8th anniversary of the Wednesday Night Gators 3SFOC gatherings. It's also the 30th anniversary of my 21st birthday! So come on out and help us celebrate. This is usually one of our larger local gatherings, and hopefully the snow will cut us some slack this year. TC Gators is located in Canton on Ford Rd, a mile west of Exit #25 off I275, in the SW corner of the strip mall on the left just past Lilley Road. We usually sit at the table in the back by the video games near the big palm tree.

I've posted this before, but here's a little history of the Wed night gathering.........
Almost eight years, and many beers ago, on Feb 3rd, 2003, we had our first gathering at TC Gators in Canton. It was actually my birthday party and nine of us were there to help me celebrate. We started the party at the Deadwood Bar&Grill in Northville, and caravanned to Gators for a while, then some of us went to a more "gentlemanly" establishment 'till the wee hours. After that night, 2 or 3 of us began meeting at Gators every week,and the attendance steadily grew. By May of that year, with an average attendance of 10 to 12 owners and guests each week, we decided to name the gathering 3SFOC (3000GT/Stealth Frustrated Owners Club). We even (unofficially) elected officers! Sop was General Manager, I was the Secretary/Treasurer and Social Chairman, and Jeff V was the Chairman of the Board! hehe.

Since that time, we have continued to meet every week, almost without exception, and have had over 20 attendees on occasion. It wasn't uncommon to see a string of 10 or more 3S's lined up together in the parking lot, and often find piles of parts on display on our table. Quite a few bench races have taken place, as well as a few parking lot races, diagnostics, breakdowns, repairs, and a "hey ya'll watch this" incident that resulted in a broken output shaft! These gatherings have also been responsible for attracting several owners to MI3Si who didn't know about us before that. And we still continue to see new faces on occasion.

It should be fun, and I hope to see some of you that have not been to the gatherings for a while. So mark your calendars for Feb 2nd and come on out and join us! See ya'll there!

Just a reminder of the party tomorrow (Wed) night. As for now, we are still on, but due to the impending record-settiing blizzard that's due to hit tomorrow morning, we may have to postpone the festivities. I'll post tomorrow afternoon with an update.

Hope everyone got the message about the cancellation of this week's Gators meet. Although the weather wasn't as bad as predicted, it was probably a good idea to cancel anyway. So we'll be having the anniversary gathering next week on Wed Feb 9 at TC Gators on Ford Rd in Canton. For those who haven't been in a while, or not at all, Gators is located a mile west of I275 exit #25 just west of Lilley Rd in the back SE corner of the strip mall near OutBack Steakhouse.

This is our special anniversary gathering which marks 8 years of having these Wed night gatherings, and also the 30th anniversary of my 21st birthday! So come on out and join us. 5pm until.... Come as you can and stay as long as you want. Hope to see ya'll there!
