Manual AWD transmission that mates to a LS?

I'm looking for an awd tranny that fits an ls engine. I'm trying to price stuff out to see if a twin-turbo awd v8 3000gt. I don't care how improbable it is, I want to do it. Just need a ballpark price to shoot for. ideas appreciated.

(The car used will be an SL not a vr4)

Are you looking to mount the engine transverse or longitudinal? That would determine possible transmissions. You'll probably end up running some kind of adapter plate setup to mate an awd trans to an LS engine.

Longitudinal. I think it's the best way to balance an LS engine.

Wasn't the Trailblazer SS a LS with AWD?

yes, it was an LS2, but a 4-speed automatic. I want a 5 or six speed. also, i don't think the 4L70E would like the turbos very much.

Adapter plates can be made for just about any setup, just ask the guys over at the conquest forums (well, maybe not there considering how its so inactive, but its worth checking out). Why not look at soobie transmissions? Itd fit the set up you are looking for.

Which transmission would I need and how much hp/torque could it handle without breaking? I want it to be a (remotely) reliable street car, and I'd like to take it to the track.

Stock STI transmissions have gotten into the 9's, not sure what kind of power they are putting out to get there

STI boxes are shit(no offence to you sir) what you want is a skyline drivetrain, there are numerous R33 and R34 LSX conversions out there already using it. i looked into it back when I was even more young and dumb and you would need to cut out a skyline trans tunnel to fit her in a GTO...recon it'd not be too hard...would need custom shafts + sump etc...
