Dumb Question of the Day :)

Ok while i am waiting on parts to arrive I am tear stuff off the block that will be replaced... ie the oil pump. Here is where the dumb question comes in... How the Hell do I get the damn cog off the crank? i am afraid to put a pry bar behind it, just didn't seem a good idea. A little penetrating oil between the cog and the crank to loosen it? With the lip on the bottom of the oil pump it kinda takes away the 3 finger pulley puller. Oil pump is ready to come off other than this snag It should be straight forward I know but other than banging my head against it for awhile I am stuck.

Smack it with a rubber mallet or "Dead Blow" and it should be good to jolt...And don't they make two finger pullers?

If you're replacing the oil pump, you can unbolt it and pry between the block and the pump. Sometimes that will knock it loose. It's a royal PITA to get them off when they are stuck on there.

I'll try prying on the old oil pump. Smacking it with a rubber mallet didn't help me much yesterday. Get my buddy in there with both of us using prybars and some gentle mallet persuasion we can get it off there. Then I'll be ready to start putting parts back on her. Here is the help I had yesterday.

    Thanks for the ideas guys!
