    Found this on my block.

Found this on my block next top the engine mount. It is behind the front turbo. Noy sure what it was for but it is angled and has a bolt in the end of it, possible hollow. I'll pull the bolt out this weekend and see if oil or water comes out of it

Just a plug. I had one just like it. Replaced it with a normal looking plug.

Yup. It's a plug to help drain your block of coolant.

Looks like your engine was rebuilt at one time before as well. Judging by the "sensors" on the freeze plug that would tell you if it overheated.

Yeah I like the "oh shit you got it too hot so your screwed" sensor. The motor came from a junkyard in Michigan, shipped to wyoming. The guy told me they had done a 60k on it and put it in the car. Then they also had rebuilt the turbos after they fired it the first time and she poured oil smoke out the tailpipes.

The block and heads looked to me like they were too clean to have many miles on them. You can see the cross hatch in the cylinders very plainly.

It just looked like an old school extension to add a sensor. I didn't know if someone had added it or if it was factory.

Wish I had thought about pulling the bolt before I turned the motor over.. would have been nice to get rest of the green stuff out

I saw that on mine during my rebuild. Nice to finally know what it is haha. Definitely made a nice mess in the garage after I turned the motor on the stand

i figured it out when i put my engine in the car and coolant went every where when i filled it. the engine place had not put it back and so i learned the hard way. the mental note came in handy on my friends build.
