nVidia already alocated $200 million to fix this. Basically they put aside $200million so any claim will come out of this money. When it runs out it will stop. Toshiba, HP & Apple already extended the warranty on any effected products for an additional year for any GPU failed related faults. I thought it was finished now though.
any SPECIFIC gpu's? i just had to have a gtx 260m replaced in my sager.
The link above only relates to Dell, HP and Apple. The models listed are all the same models I was dealing with 12-24 months ago as well as some of the Toshiba Qosmio models. I believe it was related to the 7000 and 8000 series GPUs so not yours. Also the majority of the models are from 2008.

Video car failure is a very common issue in laptops but your 200M series card is not one with an epidemic failure. Most of the cards that failed are the 7000M (Mostly 7600M) and 8000M (Mostly 8400M) series IIRC.
I have the GeForce 8600M GT
If you paid to have it fixed you might be able to claim [although the link only relates to Dell, HP & Apple] but you would need to contact Sager to see if the actual GPU chip is the same model/series as the ones with the issues. If it was replaced under warranty then you have nothing to worry about.
no, it wasn't replaced under warranty. after getting burned on an ESP for a previous laptop, i didn't bother to get more than the standard 1-year warranty. it conked out about 14 months after purchase. EEEEEFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU!
last time i buy a sager, btw. granted, it's a clevo chassis--but i don't appreciate being taken up the ass for an $800 repair on an original MSRP of $2,000.
the new laptop i have is an MSI. damn the 16x9 resolution.
p.s.
i wouldn't expect that 200 series chips were an epidemic...yet. i'm sure the numbers of 260/280m's that are sold are trivial compared to the mainstream crap--so getting a class-action suit together for them is a LOT more difficult.
Extended warranties from the big retail stores are never as good as genuine manufacturers warranty. If you buy a laptop from Bestbuy and buy their extended warranty it's a 3rd party warranty. So the origional equipement warranty last 12 months then the 3rd party one takes over. Depending on the type of warranty there can be limitations and delas due ot central repair centres etc. However if you buy a HP or a Toshiba [most brands infact] you can but genuine manufaturers warranty so it then just gets repaired by the local HP/Toshiba repair centre. Much easier and no limitations & delays. Not sure what it's like over there but if you buy a Toshiba [over here] you have 12 months to buy the extended warranty. As long as the unit is in warranty you can extend the warranty. However a lot of brands don't allow this and the warranty must be bought at the same time as the laptop.
