Broken Glove Compartment Handle

I need to remove the entire dash assembly but the glove box handle just quit working out of nowhere. Am I going to have to break it off or is there a way to remove the glove box with it being closed? I have taken the dash off before and don't remember seeing another way.

Get a hacksaw blade, pull down on the glovebox as much as you can to get a small gap, and start cutting the striker off.

Try using your keys to wiggle the lock on it but this is a fairly common occurrence in our cars. You will have to saw the striker off.

+1. cutting the striker was what i did with mine--and that was a good 6 years ago.

p.s.

if you get a replacement glovebox, try and get the kind with a piano hinge, rather than one with the plastic tabs.

Your gonna have to cut or break something to get in there if you can't get it to open. All the mounting hardware are trapped inside when its shut.

I just bought some fresh hack saw blades so I just cut the striker, excellent idea.
