The difference on that is the lip where the exhaust housing and turbo housing go together. If you have the whole unit its not an issue, they bolt to the manifolds the same. The rear precat is different on the 93 compared to a 94+ though, so if you dont have a swivel flange on your downpipe that would be something else to be changed if you used the 93 engine.

Ok, so I can interchange any turbo with any turbine housing with no problem. Just need to be sure the DP and pre-cat are a match.
Even if I had them rebuilt together?
No, because the lip on the housing is larger on one of the two, I beleive its the 2g's that are larger if memory serves.
Wow, for some reason this is confusing me. I just have to keep a 1g turbo with a 1g turbine housing and a 2g turbo with a 2g turbinehousing. Or is the turbine housing matched to that specific turbo?
No you are fine, just cant mix the two. No 1g compressor + 2g turbine and vice-versa
Jason
I am sure there are some pics floating around. If you would search small lip 9bs or something like that you might find comparison pics. As said the whole unit would bolt to any gen engine, but you cant mix and match a 1g turbine to a 2g compressor or the opposite.
Ok, now I got it. Thanks for taking the time to explain it
