    Little guidance needed

Alright. I have a 1995 mtx base model 3000gt that I'm planning on making a 8:1 TT. I'm going to use a TT harness and ecu.

Will the TT rods and pistons just swap into my NA? I'm almost positive that they will but I'm just looking for some confirmation.

Also what year harness/ECU would you recommend and why? I know there are some limitations on the 94-96 ECU's because they are hybrid. And the 91-93 have a different CAS sensor. So I guess a 97-99 harness? Also should I get cali spec of federal spec?

My engine is currently in good running condition. Should I get my heads/block decked, block honed, etc etc. Or would it be okay just to replace main/thrust/rod bearings and be good to go?

    Thanks

    "Sigh"......

You're better off finding a VR4 in good shape than trying to do this conversion. The headaches and the work involved far outweigh the results.

The pistons/rods will swap in. Probably should hone and get some new rings.

I would just use the harness in the car to keep things simple and use the same year ecu. I think first gens are easier to log and you can adapt a first gen harness to your Crank and Cam sensors if necessary. 93 is still obdI and uses seperate sensors, so that is one way to go. Fed spec, no question, fewer cels and o2s to deal with.

The last part is up to you and I would base the decision on how far you are planning to take this build, but just replacing the bearings will probably work out fine.

Thank you for that valuable piece of advice.

I am choosing to do this for a reason.

EDIT: wow that sounded dickish but I'm looking for a project to take on and already have all the TT conversion things so I might as well.

imho, if you're going 8:1, you're better off finding a tt motor. oil squirters being one reason in particular.
