So I have been doing some research as I will be needing to r do a 60K tuneup on my engine really soon. Not that I have the 60k miles on the engine but more of the fact that the engine has been sitting in an immobile car for about 7 years now. The engine has run at idle every now and than but no real stress put on it.
The engine has about 30k on it since the last rebuild. I know a lot of people will push for nothing but OEM but have you ever though of this. When was the last time any of these OEM parts were in actual production! Most of the parts Mitsubishi made are not in production anymore so all that is left is the stock that has been sitting in a warehouse for years now. I know the last OEM shift boot I bought lasted a week before the leather started pealing just like a 20 year old one did.
I know some guys that have used Preferred Components on their cars and have had great results with them. The are not a china company and adhere to high quality standards for OEM materials and specs. The company only builds timing parts for all platforms. They are priced a little lower that OEM parts.
Has anyone on here dealt with this company or any of their parts?
OHC Timing Sets and Components from Preferred Components, Inc.
I was just reading their TSB to their re-sellers and I was kind of impressed with them pushing out that info.

So what does everyone think?
Not looking for a NON-OEM bashing thread here. Looking for additional options considering all of the issues that have been arising with OEM parts "Tensioners, pulleys, ETC"!
