    Twin Turbo Conversion info

Back in 2001 I was one of the first to complete a twin turbo conversion on my n/a 3S. I'm sure there have been new findings for better ways to do the conversion since then, but here's the information I've compiled. It's the same information still posted on 3SX.com, but I figured I'd post it here, too. It might be helpful for anyone wanting to take on this task.

    -----------------------------------------
    Here's a list of parts you'll need.

    Turbos from a VR-4, either the TD04 9b's or TD04 13g's, with wastegate actuators
Exhaust manifolds and the manifold gaskets from a VR-4
    Oil housing from a VR-4
Oil feed and oil return lines for the turbos, and all the eyebolts and gaskets
"Joint" on the back of the engine block for the rear oil feed line
Modified non-turbo oil pan to accept oil return lines
    Water housing from a VR-4
Water feed and water return lines for the turbos, and all the eyebolts, washers, and gaskets
    o2 housings and pre-cats from a VR-4
Downpipe from a VR-4 (remember that if you have Gen 1 pre-cats, you need a Gen 1 downpipe, etc)
Fuel injectors from a VR-4. The stock 360cc injectors are just fine.
    Fuel pump from a VR-4.

    Electronics/Gauges you'll need
S-AFC, S-AFR, or some other way to control the fuel.
    Boost gauge
    Air/Fuel ratio gauge
Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge (two is better)
Pocketlogger - very useful for monitoring everything, especially knock

Optional things (or things other might tell you that you need)

    ECU from a VR-4
Engine wiring harness from a VR-4
Injector resistor pack from a VR-4
    Boost controller

The parts below in the table are new parts I got from Mitsubishi, and they're mainly the oil/coolant lines and all the bolts and gaskets you need for that and for the exhaust.

Wherever you want to put it, it's fine with me. It looks like there is already a link to the list I have on 3SX, but I figured I'd post it here as well in case the link ever goes dead.

(FYI, I just posted another how-to thread on auto to manual conversion, if you want to move that, too)

I guess I overlooked it. I wondered if I had it in there already through 3sx but I didn't see it.

Yeah I'll put that in there also. The thread has became useful info thread instead of just TT conversion stuff.

You're welcome! I never did complete a write-up start to finish. I might be able to come up with one from memory, but it's been soooo long I'd be afraid I'd miss something.
