How do I polish by the letters on valve cover

Im having trouble polishing around and in the spaces in the letters on the valve cover.
I have tried folding up a piece of sandpaper but it takes ALOT of work on the big 'V6', not to mention the smaller letters. Are there any tools that I can use to do this?

I managed to sand out that 'color' between the letters but it does not sand easily.

I have sanded about half with 180 so far(not shown in this pic), next I will use 220, 320, and then 400.

You need a dremel with a bunch of different sanding disks.

Be careful when sanding the letters with a Dremel, its easy to sand start to take off too much metal and round the edges of them.

Now you know why most people shave the lettering off. I bought a porter cable profile sander, but I used to do a lot of polishing. It came will little attachments, and one was like a wedge. It worked great using it by hand. I would have said to do around the lettering first, that way you knew how much metal you were taking off. Be careful, like Amphiron said, it is very easy to take off too much metal, and then it will look uneven when polished, like there are little valleys between the lettering.

    Ding Ding Ding!

It is a lot of work. Like April said a lot of people shave the lettering off. Just get it as good as you can. Get some finer sandpaper also. I go all the way to 2000grit. There will be spots in the corners that you don't get very well but I think that makes the letters stand out more.
