300m question... Yes Another tranny thread

    So look at this....

Besides the crappy image quality if you can tell this is my 300m output shaft in the vcu. This is whats bothering me. If enough torque is applied that motha f***a will rip right the hell out.... Or will it. This is from my jdm tranny that came in my front clip. When I Had it in the american tranny it slid right in. This one took some hammering... So Should I put it in and the tranny back together and just drive really really really softly ie NO LAUNCHING and it will last for a will so I have time to save up for the SCE torsion vcu (I think its called) or should I go into the back yard get the vcu top and put it on this? Again sorry for the picture I hate this phones camera.

Was a bit hard to follow your question but if you are talking about driving the car without the aluminum cap that goes on the VCU...DONT. It has a taper roller bearing on the end which is a very important part to why your trans stays together...lol.

So you are saying the end "gear" on the output shaft is sitting inside the VCU? If it is, it SHOULD NOT BE! That end "gear" goes inside the planet gear assembly.

It should look like this (without the outer case and end cap). As you can see the end "gear" is inside the planet gear assy, not the VCU.

If it is sitting in the planet gear assy like its supposed to, the only thing I can think of that made it not slip right in, is its a 25 spline output shaft in an 18 spline VCU setup.

Sorry guys I guess I wasn't clear. In aaronatstates picture on the left side where the output shaft is poking outside of the top of the vcu. That is what I'm concerned about. I know about how the vcu should line up and the configuration of what goes on the output shaft. But the top of the output shaft that is lined up with the vcu has some gaps between the splines of output shaft and splines of the vcu.
