    ...a few subjective judgments...

my car should be getting painted this spring. questions i have:

    1. since i've decided to go "black top"...but i haven't been able to source the spoiler i want, my car will have the 2g r/t rear and the 3kgt n/a wing. should i paint the n/a wing black? (i'm leaning towards yes...but i want input).

    2. although it has its flaws, the scootie2 hood i have is the only thing (other than the stock hood) that i would run. should i paint mine to match the car, or paint it gloss black to match the roof?

    3. since the engine bay is fugly, is it possible to just get the top of the inner fenders/upper firewall/front buckets painted--with the engine in the bay? anyone have experience with this?

    4. with regards to a front bumper lip. should i paint it black, or body color?

    thanks!

I'll offer input on #3. Its possible, but a major pain in the ass to paint the bay with the engine in. My advice if you are not going to remove the engine would be to remove all the little things up toward the top attached to the firewall. Remove some of the other crap thats toward the top around the core support etc. Then clean the bay as best as you can. After cleaning it good scuff it all up and paint it with a rattle can using gloss (or satin) black engine paint.

yes I have seen people do this. pull all the crap you can back off the walls and wrap everything in plastic. Steam clean all of the walls then paint it with something that will stick. You can make it better later if you wind up pulling the engine. It's a good possibility you will need to when you one these cars. ha ha

Now, what color are you going to paint it other than the black top? You already have the best color.

yes, i'll be painting it when i do an engine swap later. (didn't have the time/$$$ to get it done at 3sx when i had the swap done). for now, i just need something rattle-can esque to mask the stock color--gonna go with a black in there.

You need to do something about your hood. The mismatched lines make it look like your car has been totaled. If you like it, replace and don't use any hood shocks.
