Hotel reservations are made after you register for the NG. Once you've registered and paid, you'll receive hotel information. Then you can call and make those reservations.

drags, roadcourse and auto cross are additional witht he road course being the expensive one, but thats relative as normally roadcourse can cost you $200- $300 anywhere else.

I believe the indy pace lap was also included wasnt it?
thanks for that explanation. that honestly sounds completely reasonable and fun. i'll probably be a little awestruck seeing so many 3ses together. but damnit, i would enjoy that road course..

thanks for clearing up what all is included in the initial 120, y thanks! for alan's sake, take it easy on me

I'm sorry if I came off that way.... Please try to understand that Pete is right - when people do that, it comes from our pockets. We make NOTHING on this event. Every penny brought in goes right back into the event. Last year we were A LITTLE in the black, so this year we're putting it right back into the IMS pace lap and the increased insurance rates. I think everyone (including Pete) who attends this event sees all that goes into it and that it's WELL worth the $120 for registration.

I'll add this... Your out-of-pocket expenses for food will be less than normal this year. Also, the hotels are considerably closer to the tracks (about the same distance from the car show). So gas will be less. For hotel expenses, there are ALWAYS people looking for roommates to cut costs. Check the NG forum for that.

Something you may not realize, either, is that the track is private. We rent it out, and so far we haven't needed to invite other car groups to join us. We avoid that at all cost and will only do it if absolutely necessary. In order to do that, we need to take out a very hefty insurance policy for the week. I guess I just want you to understand that this isn't like the other gatherings. There is no other gathering that I'm aware of for these cars that rents out a track and has all three race days, rents out IMS for a pace lap, and provides a full banquet. Without having attended, I can certainly understand why you would think your races should be included. But if I told you that it costs us more than $10000 JUST to rent LOR (formerly ORP), maybe that would clear it up a bit... That is ONLY for the track rental. Then you have all sorts of other fees on top of that.

Hope this helps a bit... Not being bitchy, just hoping to help you understand what type of event it is.
no no, not bitchy at all. it's also nice to hear that Something is not for profit.. I completely see why the races aren't included. but i would like to put ani on a course. i think we'd really enjoy it, but then again, the drive will probably be enough on ani, let alone me constantly pushing her around a track

i still haven't managed to arrange my "sleeping" situation, but i do think i'd like to come out.

*plus i'm hoping that someone will be able to help me fix whatever it is i break. i'll bring some parts along to trade for whatever happens..

when is the latest that i can pay the 120? am i missing out on special things if i wait?

Is registration a one-shot deal? Or can I register for the event now, so I can get my hotel, then decide whether I will participate in the optional events (autocross, road course) at a later date?

You can register through May. It may even be into the beginning of June... I'd have to look but really can't right now (I'm on my way to work). I can look later for you if you want.

As for registration, it's definitely not a one-shot deal. You can even register on-site if there is enough space, but you'll pay considerably more if you do that. You can register now, get your hotel, then go ahead and register for the road course once you decide it's well worth it. As some people have said, 5 hours on a road course would cost you a lot more somewhere else. It's really a good deal. You're not on the course that entire time. They go out in groups, usually 15-20 minutes long with a 2-5 minute shift between groups. I imagine this year we'll go for 15-minute sessions and do 5 each (there are usually 3 run groups). Last year everyone got an hour of track time, which was pretty darn good.

One other thing to mention... I've never seen someone break down and not have help on-site. Everyone at this event is amazing when it comes to fixing each other's cars, helping someone out with a tow... Last year a few of them stayed in a parking lot after the drags until quite late, then ended up going back to the track REALLY early on Saturday to tow the cars 30 minutes back to the hotel, hopefully in time for the car show. And I think a couple of them did limp over to it... There is never a doubt that you'll have all the help you need. Honestly, it's the reason I've planned it for five years now. When I see that stuff happen, that's what it's all about for me.

can we get a thread started for the swap meet? i have stuff i'd like to get rid of; but i really don't want to be hauling something the size of a bumper up there if i can't get it sold. i'll also likely PCS within the next 18 months; so i REALLY need to get my garage cleaned out now...before i have to chuck a bunch of good parts into a dumpster--just so i can move.

    @Shmoo

Also , off all the events I love the roadcourse, its not as much of a strain on the car as drags or autocross. Plus you can reach speeds upto 130 miles per hour on that track on the straight away. Also please do not forget the big kicker, You can drive on our own (unless you are not comfortable then an experienced driver can go along to show you the ropes) opposite the normal weekend road courses where u have to have an instructor with you untill you become expert. Dont forget to bring helmet and long pants!!

I am definitely signing up for the road course. I am definitely not doing the Drag Race. The auto cross is what I was unsure about. I haven't done either before, and don't want to kill my car on the first day. My wife says sign up for everything to get the full experience, though.
