    Insurance Adjustment.

Well, the vr-4 got hit a couple months back, and her insurance company has finally sent the check in the mail. However, it is for $760. A little short of the almost $1200 I was quoted to fix it. I never agreed to any price, and this is my first time dealing with insurance. My question is, can I get the full amount with hassling them a little even though I do not plan on repairing the car immediately? I am in college, and won't have the cash available to repair until I start my summer job.

push back, they shouldn't do that, and there may be hidden damage that cant be seen until body panels are pulled off

well, the accompanying letter says a bunch of shit about how they "will review and consider any additional supplemental amounts requested by you or the repairer you select." I figured by giving them the estimate, it would pretty much be clear that I have selected a repairer and that is the amount they have requested. It also says that their estimate is based on prices that are "competitive in your market area." I don't want competitive pricing, I want a top quality repair. As I've said, I just don't know how to put any leverage into my argument as I've never dealt with insurance before.

This is where you talk to your insurance company about the claim and tell them what the deal is. Tell them the amount you received is not an agreed upon amount and you want it fixed. They will sick their lawyers on the other persons company.

Doesn't matter. The claim happened while it was insured.

I probably wouldn't cash the check yet either.

Definitely do not cash the check. Cashing the check could be agreeing to the amount given.
