I think that's a sticky situation. I know the court order says he 'can not have another dog', but how do you order something like that? Personal bans always seem to hollywood/movie to me. In reality, if he had another house somewhere and had a dog there now, would we know it? No. If he's treating it well or poorly would we know it? No.

In my mind, I think Vick at one time was a dog lover and probably got into some hairy shit with his, ahem, cohorts we'll call them. He's been volunterring with ASPCA and I think that if he can show that he takes care of a dog, he's got just as much right to have one as you or I. I do think that the dog should be checked on, etc. to make sure it's healthy and not abused.

And believe me, we need more good people to take in dogs! I'm fostering a stray pit that I found right now who was pregnant and just had four pups in my garage! This in addition to the two big dogs I already have (both are rescues as well). So I know where you're coming from on the rescue part.

Here they are a few days after the birth. They're about 3.5 weeks now and growing like weeds, all eyes open and they're starting to walk/stumble around.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

Football fans were punished by not being allowed to watch Vick for two years. He should have had to play during that time, give his salary to charity, and adopt and take care of 20 rescued pit bulls as his probation.

Heh, I kind of agree with you. He is a phenomenal player. Never liked him much hut he is very fun to watch play. I agree with the posters who said he paid his debt and should now be allowed back into society and the NFL.

There's always that possibility. But, as long as a ban is there, he runs the risk of being caught if he "cheats" & one would hope that he's learned his lesson. But, he said he wanted to adopt a dog for his two little girls. I'd assume that would mean he didn't want to keep it at a house he wasn't at. Also, the ban is only as long as his probation.

Just as much of a right as you or I? I completely disagree. He gave up that right the minute he fought, abused, electrocuted, beat & drowned all those defenseless dogs for 5-6 YEARS. If in the future he proves that he can responsibly own a dog, and does responsibly own a dog, then he earned it in the eyes of those that control that. But he doesn't have the same right as you or I (imo).

So he does not have the right to own a dog, but if he proves he can own a dog and take care of it properly then he can have a dog...how else can he prove that he can own a dog besides owning a dog???

Look at the post by naptownvr4. Vick was overly punished compared to others who are not famous.

I would still argue he was under punished and the others stole candy from a baby. Do those of you really realize what is involved in "TRAINING" a dog to fight? Look up bait animals on wikipedia to start... If you still think he was robbed after researching all it takes and the methods employed, I give up on your asses...

So he does not have the right to own a dog, but if he proves he can own a dog and take care of it properly then he can have a dog...how else can he prove that he can own a dog besides owning a dog???
NO he does not deserve the right, just as any felon does not deserve the right to bear arms.

Edit: To expand further on your logic, does a teacher that sodomizes a student deserve the right to continue teaching?
