    Lunar Eclipse

...Going on now, with totality for about another 20 min, if you're up late with nothing better to do.

    Edit: LUNAR eclipse. LOL

Saw it here and got a couple of pics. Pretty cool. I've never seen a Lunar eclipse before. (minus pictures)

Ah, sorry to hear. I got very lucky, we had cloud cover here too, I walked all the way around my house trying to see it and couldn't find it, I wasn't sure exactly where it was supposed to be. Walked down to the end of the block so no houses would obstruct my view, and then the clouds got thinner and it was directly above me. Then a small patch of clear sky developed right where the moon was, I got about a 2-3 min perfect view before the clouds blocked it again. Was surprised that it was actually a dark orange, never seen that before.

SoCal has been socked in with clouds and rain for the last 5 days now. They say the next time we get a total lunar eclipse around here will be in 2094. I don't think I'll be around by then. ;-)

Doubt there is a person on this board that will be. And to think I missed this one.

I saw it. At first I just though it was cloudy, but turns out the moon had a slight haze around it. Nothing really exciting.

I wanted to watch it so bad. Unfortunately I get up at 5:30 so staying up to watch it was out of the question.

There are total lunar eclipses every few years: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse.html The only thing rare about this one was that it fell on the solstice. But pick any day of the year, and it will be rare for an eclipse to fall on that date, too.
