    What BOV is this?

When I bought the car I found this BOV in the glove compartment and never installed it.

Is this a "closed" looped BOV? Any idea what brand it is? It feels pretty solid , but I just don't know much about it.

    Thanks.

Looks like a knock off greddy to me. By the looks of it, it appears that it can be ran as a recirculating bov.

Agreed. Looks like a Type S knockoff. Could be ran either way.

I'm glad everyone agrees with my first instinct. I usually don't know BOV's but I had a greddy on my TSI and this looked a lot like it.

Knock off for sure, and if you use it make sure to boost leak test it first to make sure it works. Ebay valves usually leak. Also bead roll the flange on the pressure side of the valve so that it does not blow off.

How would I check it? Duct tape one side and run 14 PSI to the other side and see if it leaks? Do I need to duct tape the nipple as well?

Um duct tape would never hold any boost pressure in a closed system. Install blow off valve but plug the hole in the air bubble where you would recirculate. The when pressure testing, the bov has one hose off the y pipe and the other end is open. This will let you know if it is leaking out the outlet when it shouldnt. the nipple should be hooked to the vacuum line.

Exactly, you dont want to hear, or feel any air coming out of it until theres more pressure than you normally run. Example, if you run 15psi regularly, you want to pressure test the system to at least 20 to make sure its solid.
