Just what I mentioned in the first post. I will only end up doing a two monitor setup (laptop included). I just want a relatively quick PC that I will use 90% for web browsing and 10% for using excel, word, and media.

Well, any will do that. even $300 models. I'd still recommend stepping up to a better quality laptop with an i3(can be found for less than 500).

My brand preference is Toshiba, Asus, MSi.

I've been talking to others that say get an i5 or better but get at least an i3. Going to look at some computers tomorrow. I know I can settle for less but I want to get a quality computer at the same time. Thanks for the help!

If you want tp run 3 screens on a laptop you need to connect a monitor to the vga out on the laptop then connect a docking station like the Toshiba DynaDock that has it's own built in HD video card and connect another monitor to that. Then you have 3 screens. Laptop lcd, ext monitor from laptop and ext monitor from docking station. Also try to find a laptop with either a HDMI or DVI for better picture quality to hi res screens. I personally would say buy a Toshiba. But then I am a Toshiba Certified Technician and reseller so but after that I would say look at a HP business model [not the cheap consumer models] then ASUS then everything else after that is about the same. All fairy average quality. Acer and Dell would be my very last 2 options.

You will for sure need no more than an i3 for this. An i5 would be way overkill for your needs. I put together a couple i3 machines recently and even running off their on-board graphics they are quick little beasts. I would however make sure you get at least 2 gigs of ram and a 7200 rpm harddrive. For what your needs are, those will make the biggest difference.

My personal preference is Sager or Asus as far as brands go. They always put out good quality stuff and it's usually easy to do maintenance on.

Update. I ended up going with an HP G72t series 17" laptop with i3 @ 240ghz/500GB/4GB. Did some research and it should fit my needs.

Thanks again for all the input!

Just received the computer in the mail today. I am thoroughly impressed. The 17.3" LED screen is phenomenal. A vast improvement in performance over my last PC. So nice not having to browse the web soley on my phone!
