    Migraine Headaches

This morning I woke up at 2 am with a horrible migraine headache and at 11am I got it under enough control to function.
I just wanted to tear my eyes out!

Up until 5 months ago I didn't really know what one was.
Since then I get them everyday. My Dr is trying different meds on me but nothing is really helping.

Anyone else have this problem and how do you cope?

I have been having an ongoing battle with migraines and headaches since I was 15 (23 now). Tried all kinds of things but to be honest the most successful non medicated way that works for me is sitting in a steaming hot shower. Usually I will just sit in the tub for 30min or until the hot water runs out. I am also prescribed Sumatriptan (generic imatrex) that I always carry a pill with me, works about 75% of the time if I can take it when I first feel it coming on.

I've had them and they are always shitty...I cant even imagine having them frequently If I can stand when I get them I do the crazy hot shower thing and that helps temporarily. I am, fortunately, able to weaken the ache w/excedrin though. All that painkiller and caffeine seems to at least subside it a little.

    I'll try the hot shower.
Excedrin migraine helps more then anything I have tried but it varies on how well.
    Thanks for the advice.

My wife gives me 2 Excederin and a Sudafed. For what it is worth she is a Pharmacist.

Marc, if the showers are helping some, sounds like sinus issues involved with your headaches. Do you have allergies?

I get them about once a week. Ice pack on the neck and some natural herbs fix me right up.

If I get a headache I take Excedrin Migraine. I used to get real migraines as a kid, but went in for an MRI, and haven't had one in 18 years. They were so bad I couldn't move. But now its just a slight pain in the neck or front of my head, but not bad.

I cant believe that I never thought of that. Allergies can have that kind of effect though? I never had allergies until recent thyroid problems nor had I had a migraine since middle school until AFTER the thyroid problems. ....stoopid thyroid...

You can develop allergies at anytime, might want to check that out.
