    oil dipstick popped out??

Ok, last night a cobalt SS came up to me flying and I decided to play well ....lets just say I was hauling ass (130+, I know Im sry) and my dipstick popped out? This has never happened before and I am running with a new pcv valve and front and rear krank vents. I just changed my oil so Im not sure why it did this? Car was still pulling and I hit 137mph. Boosting at 18.7 psi. Weird tho? Got home popped the hood and dipstick was up in the air about inch and a half and oil was over the engine. cleaned it up but will have to look at it better tonight. I know that is krank case pressure but it never did that before and I have done 125+ before and never had any issues? Wonder if it could be just so much boost pressure at that rpm and speed?

whats weird is I drained the oil out completely....and looked as if only 2-3 quarts of oil came out. So I put in 5qts and check the dipstick and it ran high? So, i emptied out a qt, little high, then 1/2qt and was low? So i put 1 qt back in and was just barely above 2nd notch. oil pressure is 30-40 psi. on my prosport.

Sounds like boost going backwards into the crank case possibly through the PCV valve. It should stop all backwards flow [like a diode] through it but it seems to be well known that not all of them can hold against high boost levels.

Just conjecture here but sounds plausible.

You got some crank case pressure bro. Could be either a bad PCV valve (if you got a new one it better be OEM since autozone ones are valved backwards), or you might be seeing some head lift, maybe something else. Any coolant in your oil?

Its a fairly common thing, its not always bad either. DSM's do it all the time, so much so that we actually sell dipstick tubes with springs on them to hold the dipstick in.

It just means theres pressure in the case, and up top is when you have the most, 6-7000 RPM at 18 pounds there is a ton of pressure going through the engine and it just build up if it cant get out and will push out the weak link if it can which is usually the dipstick. Try getting rid of the pcv valve and just running a hoes to the ground, and blocking off that port on the manifold, the engine should breath better.

Also check the crank vents are working properly, and not keeping pressure inside the engine instead.

My dipstick has oil all over the rubber stopper so maybe I need to wipe it clean due to it not sticking in. Yes, oem pcv with 2000 miles and DR racing krank vents all installed right.
