Rear bumper removal??

I have been following Stealth316's guide on how to remove the rear bumper and it looks like that cars that have the 'hoop' wing, need to remove it prior to removing the bumper. Not the large centre piece, but the two pieces that sit on the rear quarter panels. Can anyone confirm this?

i don't think it's necessary. once you pull the tails, you should be able to access the mount screws without having to pull the corner caps. if memory serves.

In his guide, he removes the rear tail lights of the stealth which is where the hoop wing is mounted to the rear quarter fenders (see first photo under 'Post-Installation'). Unless it's got nothing to do with the removal of the bumper perhaps??

You don't have to remove the side pieces, just the tail lights.

Actually the corner caps have to be removed to get the bumber cover off. That means on a hoop spoiler that the side pieces must be removed.

Yeah, if I remember right there's a bot underneath that area where the corner cap does reach down to the rear bumper. It has been a while though...

I just had my rear bumper off and the caps didn't have to come off. There are bolts on the aluminum frame for the caps but I didn't have to remove the caps.

it's sandwiched in there, but you can remove it without the caps coming off.

I just had my rear bumper off and the caps didn't have to come off. There are bolts on the aluminum frame for the caps but I didn't have to remove the caps.

So, I'm guessing its easier to remove the rear bumper by removing the end caps, but it can also possibly be done by not removing them, but it may be more difficult?

I have found it easier to remove the caps yes. The first time I did a rear bumper removal I was doing it blindly, since I had never removed one before. I tried doing it without removing the caps and found it difficult.
