3sx has always been great getting stuff here. It just cost so much. I track and trace an item I bought from them and the afternoon I ordered it a courier picked it up from 3sx and had it on a plane within hours then went direct to melbourne and was at my door 2 days later. less than 4 days door to door. My mechanic was not expecting that hahaha.

    Pardon my noobish ignorance.. but
    Why 450s ?
Where's the best place to get them ?
What the diff. between black tops and red tops ?
Are any brands better than others ?

I was going to get the kit from IPS..

But they changed the apexi neo to the IFC/8 which am not too sure about.. and jacked up the price by $200 at the same time..

K, 450s are the best match for 13g turbos as you wont need any more juice with 13gs than the 450s can supply, but also timing becomes a factor here. If you run massive injectors and thus your running low IDC's (injector duty cycle) your timing is advanced and knock, pre detonation call it whatever you like, is far more likely. You can compensate for this by doing ignition control by something like an emanage, however in general it is accepted that 550cc is the limit for the emanages to handle. Moral of the story if your running 13gs stick to 450s.

From my understanding, DSM injectors are 450cc black tops so can be sourced quite cheap (Think of DSMs as EVOs). The injectors of them are black top 450s in most cases and work great with our cars because of the low impedence that the two share injector wise. If you take a look at our stock injectors the tops are red where as the tops are black on these, thus "black top".

Brands arent a big thing with injectors, you'll see guys running all kinds of injectors, Evo (off evos 550 or 560), Denso, PTE etc. If you buy a used set just make sure they have been ultrasonically clean and flow tested.

You should be able to buy 450 injectors for about 150 shipped, walbro from Aus for 150, safc2 for about 250 and a hot wire kit for about 60 posted from US. Grand total, deff less than 700.

    Cheers
    Maddy

Edit: Btw have a read through this, should explain a lot

be wary...Evo Injectors are known for being very hard to get just right...nothing wrong with 450's....just the evo factor.

Dont think the evo injectors came in 450s, think they were just 550 and 560s. I've got a pair of 560s, as long as you get them flow tested and they match up shouldnt be a prob. Funny thing about the evo 560s is that they are actually 575cc go figure.

Real interesting info on the old 3SI forums - but to be honest it is all still a bit beyond me. I still have a question - I want to replace my turbos (the old ones seem to be on the way out), and was thinking 3SX Executioners. I want to be able to run the stock ECU, but was thinking to upgrade the intercoolers at the same time. Do I need to make changes to my fuel system to support this, assuming I stay with stock boost?

If you change the turbos you will need to also change the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and injectors then you will need some sort of device so control air and fuel. Welcome by the way. Also you should look at the dynamic racing DR750s. They are awesome turbos capable of 600hp.
