what about hard drive platters? are they worth anything?
Those, who stand for nothing, will fall for anything.
On the Internet you can be anything you want. It's strange that so many people choose to be stupid.

Platters are typically made using an aluminium or glass and ceramic substrate. Then coated with a cobalt-based alloy. Worth-less, unless you can trick someone into buying the shiny disks.

I am interested in buying metals as well. I looked at buying gold exactly a year ago, it was around $800, now almost $1400. That would have been a great investment. But I bought a 3000GT instead(also a great investment IMO) Imagine if I spent 6k on gold, I would be looking at a profit of $4500 dollars. Almost DOUBLE!

Where do you guys get your information about metals?

In the long run, silver and gold won't beat inflation. It you are really worried about the dollar collapsing, diversify into foreign currencies. Get some euros, some British pounds, yen and Swiss franks, not all the world's currencies can collapse.

I support the "Gay Jihad" against Rick Santorum!

This is true. But unlike euros, British pounds, yen, swiss, and other currencies, precious metals has a universal value. You can unload gold/silver at any time anywhere.

How can you support that argument? Gold and silver always have value, maybe they don't keep value as well as bullets and fire, but they beat paper any day.

"In the long run, silver and gold won't beat inflation." It will beat super inflation.

You can unload gold/silver at any time anywhere.
You mean they(if you keep it at a bank) will actually give it to you when the economy really goes to hell. I would keep my gold at home.

i dont own any silver, and the only gold i have is on my finger.

a silly statement to exchange USD for GBP would break the bank. the best time to do that is when the USD and GBP are near equal in value., because then the USD always falls short of the pound and its now probably half the value.

for someone who may have bought 10,000 GBP back when the dollar was at its strongest would make a pretty packet now with something like a 5k return.

you should only buy foriegn currency when the domestic is equal or better value then put it safe and wait for the stock market to go bad.
