I know that there are many of you here that still go over to the other site, so please forgive all the double posting. The information here is for those who don't go back there and want a chance to offer condolences, share stories or just keep up-to-date on what's happening.

That being said, here is what Jackie has posted in regards to a gift from the community:

I think this is the PERFECT gift for the family. Sanjay's family has a large yard and tree would planted in his honor from us would be wonderful.

I'll go ahead and purchase it from all of us and have it delivered to the home.

I'm just sick about this... He was soooooo young. Vicki, Jackie, whoever is taking care of this... Please let us know how we can contribute. And thank you for handling it. I think this is an absolutely perfect gift. When my mom died, the neighbors all chipped in and got a tree that she had really wanted. They planted it in the backyard and we put some of her ashes in with it. That tree is flourishing... Not only was it the most meaningful memorial we had (we had four total), but that tree is an incredible source of comfort to me. When I miss her, I go sit by it for a while. I hope this tree can bring Sanjay's family that same sense of peace and tranquility in time. What a thoughtful gift. Not sure where you found it, but you're a blessing for doing so.

Tiffany and I both cried last night after hearing about this. Not only was Sanjay a "3si friend" (and an NG friend), he became a good "offline" friend as well. We're so happy that he was able to drive from Chicago last summer to Tiff's dad's birthday party. Even though his hip was really hurting him, he drove his car 2.5 hours to see us. I enjoyed my first ride in his car as we went to buy our O'Douls (he and I both stopped drinking about the same time). He made fun of me, since I had gained a little weight since I had last saw him, and I complimented him on his recent weight loss. He looked in great health, and FINALLY had his surgery to fix his hip so he could ski again.

I'll never forget the NG in St. Louis, the first time I saw him that year, he had Amy's bra on his head after being challenged....

One of my favorite non-car-related stories about Sanjay was one random Sunday we were at the park doing a cookout. My phone rang, it was Sanjay. "DUDE, I'm in VEGAS, come see me!" I said, "cool, where are you, we'll come down as soon as we're done with our picnic". To which he replied, "Oh man, my plane leaves in an hour, come to the airport!".

Turns out he had been here for 3 days with a group of people and had sort of forgotten that we lived in Vegas. Unfortunately, we couldn't go down there (45 minute drive, and his plane left in an hour LOL). But, a short time later he was back in Vegas and we were one of the first calls he made when he landed. Had a great evening out with him and one of his local "friends".

I'm kicking myself for not calling him on Thursday - he had turned me on to the show "Outsourced" and I had 4 or 5 episodes on my DVR that I watched. One of the jokes was something that he and I joked about a lot, and I nearly called to say HI at that time.

Sanjay was one of the kindest, most giving people I've ever met. And though I've probably spent no more than 20 or 30 total hours "hanging out" with him (over the course of 8 years), I considered him one of my best friends.

He was for sure "too young" (35, I think?). But, for what it's worth, he made the most of his time here, and I don't think you'll find anyone who wasn't immediately touched by his kindness after they met him.

I had been blasting through the threads all day and shamefully missed this, I didn't personally know Sanjay but had run into him a few times on the Threads of both this and the other site. He seemed to be a very kind person, and gave without thought of return. As I recall, I believe he was one of the first people to step up to the plate and help me with many of the problems I had with my car. RIP Sanjay, and my condolances to your family.

Lori, Jackie has been behind the majority of this. I only posted the same info over here for those who are either banned or don't go back to 3si at all. I know many in that crowd are old-timers who knew Sanjay.

I never had the privilege to meet him but it's clear how he touched the hearts of those that were his friends.
