Based on the fact that we bounced out of the Great Depression. Look at the numbers, we're not poised to bounce out of anything. This shit is here to stay, if not get worse.

My only advice beyond what's been said... Get a technical degree.

What do you WANT to do?

From your original post you've been applying to a number of different jobs. Are you wanting a job or a career? What is your goal for this job?

Since I just did interviews last week for a part time designer it is fresh in my mind. I actually gave the offer to the less experienced person. Reason? They had a drive and a showing that they wanted the job more. Don't get me wrong, the person has a solid portfolio, he would not have gotten an interview if I didn't think he could do the job. But he wanted it more. Great communication before and after the interview. Makes a difference. If you interview somewhere and you don't follow up ASAP with your interviewer and someone else does, who do you think the interviewer is going to remember more?

Ill get on that. There are a few things that I want to change, but as of right now, I have a little bit of freelance mechanical work to do today.

Just repeating what someone else said...retail. Retail sucks but they're definitely hiring right now if you really need some dough.

I would love to have a career, at least thats what I thought I was getting into at my last job. Yet I was getting paid 7.50/hr to run an entire TV station, I even taught myself how to fix the BETA and DVC tape players along with all of the other equipment that would break down. I worked there for almost 2 years, 40-50 hours a week. I took 1 sick day for the 2 years. My leaving pay, 7.50/hr

The boss told me when he was hiring me that the position I was in was the best to move up and make money in the company. I twice applied for an engineering job there, both times they hired a new kid off of the street. I think I got too good at my job, and he was scared to move me, but he didn't want to pay me more either. Hell, I was doing 80% of the engineers job just because I was fixing my own equipment. This doesn't even mention the fact that he wasn't going to let me attend my grand fathers funeral because I was not able to give him a two week notice, to which I promptly replied, here is my two week notice for quitting, and you will still need to find someone to fill my shift.

It seems you are willing to work just about anything, that's good and impressive. The only advice I have is what others have stated as to follow up, but I'll add not to the point of annoyance. Worse comes to worse...

Move somewhere else. Every fast food joint in my area is hiring MANAGERS. No one will even work them. These are 36k+/annual jobs...and that affords a pretty damn nice lifestyle here.

That is just some crap right there!!!

Are you by any chance a programmer? Possibly with at least 3 years of experience with Java, HTML and CSS. Maybe with some ERP and Oracle database work??? Let me know if you are.

Also, what Hilbilly said, I know the the Sonic near my house is hiring, it is a $30K+ a year starting with full benefits.

And as others have said, it is easier to find a job while having a job. Even if it is just something to bring some sort of income in it is worth it. May employers will wonder why you're not at least doing something to bring in a check while looking for what you want.

Who said I pay for it to begin with?

Please leave the cannabis related issues outside of this thread. Thanks.
