Not an MR trans. There is no such thing as an MR Trans. All 5 speeds were the same, regardless of region. All US 6 speeds were the same, and all JDM 6 speeds were the same, regardless if it was an MR or not.

I used to think that too but this one says MR right on the plate so there really is such a thing as an MR trans . That's the first time I've seen an actual MR plate instead of a Gxxx plate. Have you actually openened up an MR plated trans before? I've rebuilt several styles of trans and have never, ever, seen an MR plate. Is it possible there's yet another ring gear undiscovered out there?

Interesting... I have also never seen a plate like that. I would still doubt that the tranny is any different than ours, after all this time I think we would have heard of any other gearing types out there. Perhaps some of the MR cars had that stamp added to the regular tranny to let any Mitsu mechanics know that it was an MR geared car with the different rear end.

MR is normally a sign of a mitsu part #. That tranny looks like a remanned 5-spd. (Note the 3 shafts not 4). Is MR11883 in CAPS?

For sure it looks the same but that plates throwin me off since I've never seen any year of 3/Sawd plated with an MR prefix! You think it's a reman plate or something? You have ASA or CAPS?

    Off topic:
Rather then sawzawing through everything, why dont these chop shops take the time (maybe even save time) and take things off and sell them as well?
For god sakes the halfshaft is now a 1/4 shaft, and that shift linkage is useless.
