    Old CRTs...

Any idea how to recalibrate them? My upper left corner of the monitor is starting to have some weird color issues. It's like the different colors are spreading apart. Ugh. I don't want to spend money on a new monitor.

Get a new monitor, your eyes will thank you. Seriously they are CHEEEEEAP

Sorry, I dont know of the procedures for calibrating or resetting a CRT, though

Sounds like you got a magnet near it. CRTs have a degauss circuit that removes that effect if you remove the magnetic source. Sometimes you have to power cycle it a few times to get it to go away. You can't just turn it off and right back on, you have to let it sit for a few minutes.

It might also have a degauss button on the front or in the menu settings. My old CRT had one right in the middle on the front. Was a picture of a square with a dot in it.

It could need convergence adjusted (colors are skewed barely but they don't line up) or the shadow mask was magnetized by a magnet. This does not apply if you have a Trinitron.

Yep, it's been degauss'd. No magnets nearby. I think I'm going to try a power cycle, but I don't recall it "fixing" itself last time the power went out for a few hours. I'm going to look into adjusting the convergence. It's definitely not in the OSD for the monitor.

The monitor I want is $300... I'm going to wait until after I buy that badass new MUT box to do anything for my PC.

    Thanks guys

You can buy decent CRT monitors real cheap on craigslist too... like $25 for a 19" or whatever... so if it gets too annoying but you still aren't ready for the $300 monitor, it's an option that could hold you over.

What size is it? I have a nice 17" ViewSonic CRT that's been sitting in it's box for a few years now. Worked great when I stopped using it. Now it just takes up space in storage.

Should check out some of the deals on the Asus LCD monitors on Newegg.com. They are usually amazing deals and the color on them is amazing. I started buying them for all of the computers at my office.
