Helicoil size for the lower intake manifold.

Anybody know what size helicoil I need for the bolts that attach the plenum to the lower intake manifold? I stripped out the threading changing my plugs out.

Couple phones ago :P. I thought about trying to look up your old thread, but seemed like it would be easier just to ask here. Good opportunity to add information to the new site also.

I just did this about a month ago; after numerous failed attempts at using red thread lock lol; that was a waste of time. I picked up kit 770-3093 from NAPA, Helicoil Metric Thread Repair Kit. Size M8x1.25, came with drill size 21/64. This was used to replace DS stud to lower intake (attaches plenum to lower intake).

It happened to be on sale (IIRC about from 40+ bucks to under 30), but probably because I had ordered it a while ago, then didn't pick it up, cause they did not stock the item. Later I asked if it was in stock and it was and on sale.

If only we all had TIG welders sitting around lol.

Also, how you figure filling a hole up with a TIG welder and then redrilling and retapping is easier than... redrilling a hole, retapping, and putting the helicoil tang in is beyond me. Seems about the same to me. Except one doesn't involve pulling a welder out.

FYI they have those helicoils at Autozone or Advance for much less than $30 IIRC.

I was talking to Adam and he said I should order them of mcmaster.com. Going to have him go ahead and do my helicoils for me when I take my car up there. He is giving me an awesome deal on the whole thing. Can't wait to have the car purring again hah.
