I have the perfect tool for you! It's a sharp edge with a handle, and something heavy to hit it with Otherwise known as a cold chisel and a hammer... The two have come to be very hand for me

The carpet does not need to come out, at least not in my 99. The carpet is cut so that the flaps will pull out of the way.

Only way I know to remove it is to pull the seat. Not a big job at all. 4 bolts and a plug or two. The rear outside bolt can be a bitch to get to though. Be sure you have the seat as far forward as it can go.

Stuoid planning? It's either pull the carpet to get the amp out or oull the amp to get the carpet out. How often do you think most owners are going to actually pull their carpet? Probably more likely they will pull the amp, so it's actually good planning.

BTW, My screws came out just fine. I don't think there is any Loctite on them. Maybe some rust though. I'd throw some PB Blaster or similar penetrating oil, put a screwdriver in the slot, then tap it with a hammer a few times

Wow, those are in there. They are stripping now, with me standing up and putting all the possible weight on them I can. Stupid useless stereo systems.

I couldn't get mine out with a screwdriver but a drill with a phillips bit did the trick just fine.

I probably would've gotten pissed enough to just drill them out at that point, haha
