    Shifter Assembly Stabilizer Bushing Kit

Hey guys, I have been having some fun tearing into my car lately and just yesterday I begun installing my 3sx shifter bushing kit. The 4 replacement bushings at the base of the shifter were easy but im not exactly sure how to install the ones at the other end of the linkage cable.

How hard is it to get to the end of the shifter cables where they meet the levers going into the transmission? Can i get to it from inside the car?

I researched the topic but didn't find much other than "it was an easy quick install!" I must not be understanding something.

Please help I need her back on the road by tomorrow... thanks!

are you talking about the ones under the hood? Just take the cotter pins out, pull them off the transmission, and used a flat head to pry the old bushings out.

This is a 1st gen NA. Just pop the hood and its right there. I took this picture when my pressure plate exploded. You can see I have mine bolted to the transmission instead of cotter pinned. You can also see how wore out that bushing is.

I assume they are the ones under the hood... where are they located at? I don't really know my way around under the hood yet.

Are they located under the Y pipe? Thats the only thing I see that looks like them...

If it is a TT, you will have to pull the intake piping out to get to it. The y-pipe, the MAF, the bubble, the pre-turbo piping.

If it is NA it will just be right next to the radiator and you should be able to get to it without having to move anything out of the way. I haven't seen under the hood of a NA in a long time.

A good way to get the intake piping in and out easily is to take the y-pipe out, then unhook the pre-turbo pipes from the turbos, unplug the MAF and just pull it all out in one piece (not including the y-pipe).

Don't forget to grease them a little before install.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!
