    Oh I've had high bandwidth since about then, also, but most forums asked us to put "56k beware" or similar just to be nice to the people living in 1997.

    I remember 2400, 9600 (whoopee!), then the shiznit 56k.
    All for ANSI on BBSs. At 9600 it took like 15mins for a 1mb scanned gif.

    Dude, I used to work on TRS-80's before AlGore even invented the internet.

    I also remember when America Online was fully text-based and the pages still took 20-30 seconds to load.

    Now I'm complaining because the only thing available at my house/office is aDSL with maximum 750k upload and it takes 1.5 minutes to upload a high-res photo to our online gallery. Down is 3mb (max for my area). But I'm hearing 15mb down and 5mb up "in the near future".
