    2010-2011 College Basketball Thread

Hows the outlook on your teams so far? Love college football, but basketball is where its at here in Lobo country. We got a few votes preseason, but no ranking. Have lots of young talent, and the new Pit is ready to rock! Fast forward to 1:05 if you don't want hear a sobering sad story. Stoked for BB season, but we lost our best player and heart of the team over the summer.

Well, after last season's historic collapse from #1 to barely making the NCAA tournament, we lost 3 players to the NBA.

Damion James, Avery Bradley, Dexter Pittman.

In the off-season, our basketball S&C coach really earned his pay. All of our players dropped bad weight, added good weight, and significantly improved. We picked up a very good point guard in Corey Joseph and a top center in Tristan Thompson. Our season will go as Jordan Hamilton and J'Covan Brown go... We struggled with Navy in the 1st half of the opener, but responded well and absolutely stomped them in the 2nd.

We're a young team. We will be better by the end of the season, unlike last year. Coach Barnes has learned that positive reinforcement is a good thing and his players are responding well to him. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say 4th in the B12, #7 seed in the tourney and a 2nd round bounce. The B12 looks very strong this year... Which is pretty typical as of late

Press is underrating WVU because we lost Butler(huge loss), Ebanks(meh don't really care), and Wellington Smith(substantial loss). We'll be plenty tough this year returning Truck Bryant, Kevin Jones(dats mah boy), Denis Kilicli, and John Flowers. We should be in the top 4 of the Big East(at least), and I expect us to be in the sweet 16.

As an aside, I expect our womens team to be top notch also. I looke for them to finish 2nd in the BE...behind UCONN of course. No one has shit for UCONN again this year.

Texas improved to 2-0 with a beat down of Louisiana Tech. So far so good. This is a lot more fun than our football team... lol

We had our exhibition game against Pembroke, total joke obviously.

First real game is tomorrow against Oakland. Again, joke game.

Our schedule is much easier than last year, I think we'll roll pretty damn good. Watched an hour long special last night about the new team. I'm very impressed with the off season workouts and improvements. Cam Thoroughman went from 6'7" 185lbs to 6'7" 235lbs...and isn't fat! I love it, getting really excited.

Lobos took out Arizona St tonight 76-62. Im very excited about this team, very young, with lots of newcomers but man are we fast and know how to pass the ball. Defense looks pretty good too. Anyways, 2-0 so far and future looks bright.

The Ohio State game was good. I saw most of the early game, but the box score (the way OSU pulled away) was really surprising.

Apparently not surprising for everybody... Mike will like Kevin's pick for 2011 NCAA Champion

These are the best articles I've ever read about Texas basketball. These give me hope for Texas football because Rick is acting like a completely different person than we had grown to love/hate. Maybe Mack Brown can follow suit.
