    VIN No#

I cannot find it Now but I remember reading some post about finding out the history of our cars.
Now i've had my car for about 7 years, 1st owner in Australia when imported from Japan.
But not till it started to fall apart 3 months ago, and I was forced to spend 10k on it to freshen her up and fix a few issues that I started to become a forum whore and learn a whole lot about our cars.
Just got her back with assorted mods and everything fixed.

VINs was an interesting topic that I had read I think on the 'Devils' site some months ago.
Well my VIN spun me out.
    I have said/assumed my car was a 91' make.
Turns out the car is much older than that.

Am I to believe I have the 623rd GTO ever made.......? THATS FUCKING SWEET if so

    My VIN:

    Build Date: 01/06/90
    VIN: Z16A-0000623

Edit: My point, can someone link me to where I can find the info or advise further.. TY kthxbai

I don't think anyone has a breakdown of Japanese VIN's so there is no way to be sure.

Your car still may be a 91, build date is not the tell all. I beleive in Japan that a car is given the year of the year it is first titled and registered. In the US (at least for 3s's) the build dates run from June to May. For instance, my car was built in June of 93, so it is a 94 model year.

Put it this way, the 1st 1000 N0# car roll out of anything is a pretty pricless peice of engineering to salvage in my opinion, and to have a GTO of this Caliber means alot to me and probably the community. I was going to get rid of it, but if I can confirnm this, then i'm keeping it.

Who are you talking to? Saying Doc has me so confused.

Here's the story of my old VR-4 (no factory sunroof, black w/ charcoal interior):

Your 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is one of 1650 that received VIN numbers. Based on the order of the serial numbers, your car was the 1567th out of the 1650 that were made that year.

There is 2 car matching your year and model with a serial number under 100. The cars with the last 6 digits ending less than 100 are most likely kept in a mueseum or used for the final crash/road testing, but CarFax information is generally not available for them. Since this car will probably never be sold or registered, your car is more accurately the 1566th out of the 1649 available. For more information on this, check out The Serial Number Problem

Your car was built in the 3rd week of February 1994. Of the 41753 vehicles made at the Nayoga plant, your car was the 38431st vehicle to be created that year.

There are 164 other cars that were made with both the same interior and exterior color. There are 264 cars with the same exterior color and 775 cars with the same interior color.

Note: The production order is assigned based on the order of the serial number.
