I was just waking up. I worked an afternoon shift and because of the drive didn't get home til after 1am. I remember getting out of bed and going into the bathroom to take a piss. Then I walked into the living room where my dad was wathing TV and just said under a crackling voice "They're flying planes into our buildings"
I was so confused at first because I had just woken up. Then everything started hitting my brain. I didn't move from the TV for hours. I almost forgot to get showered before I had to leave for work. I listened to the radio the whole way to work talking about it. When I got there they had dug a TV out of a back room and had it on the coverage and all I did was watch the coverage my whole time at work in between processing trucks out of the quarry. It was definitely a strange day.

Sitting in 8th grade English class when It all started. They turned on the news at first then the school decided we should not be aloud to see what was happening. My teacher left ours on and told us "This is a day where will never forget exactly where we were and what we were doing."
10th grade Chemistry. I was turning on my burner and then the gas went off and the teacher told us. Most of the other grades were held in class. I said screw this and picked up my baby brother from middle school and went home.
It was my day off from work. I lived about 8 miles away from Detroit Metro Airport, and regular flights would rattle our windows when they came in low. When I woke up, there was no noise. I walked out into the living room and my father' s girlfriend was dumbstruck. I looked to the TV to watch the second tower fall. I watched until the lunch appt I had. While waiting for my friend to get out of school, a local guy everyone knew rode up on his bike. He was known around the city as the kind old man with the old 50's Schwinn bike that he rode everywhere. He came up to my window and asked to listen to the radio. I had Howard Stern on, so I turned it up so he could here. He sat there and cried while holding onto my car. A lot of that day has begun to get fuzzy, but the old man crying and talking to me about what happened - that will never leave me.
I was in fifth grade, likely picking my nose and hitting on the girl next to me. We had little tv's in the room but could barely tell what was going on.
I remember it was my freshmen year of High School. had just gotten into Social Studies, hadn't even sat down yet when the teacher came in with a distraught look on his face and said "something terrible has happened." At first I thought he was joking, but then he told us the world trade center towers had been hit. We went in the other room and turned on the news, and watched as the 2nd plane hit the towers. This event for our generation is like pearl harbor for your parents or grandparents. It's something you will most likely never forget that day.
I was in 8th grade, and completely clueless. I walked into class, and I remember this kid, Donovan Staggs, whom I have not seen since that grade, told me the WTC got hit by planes. I had no clue what the WTC was. I just responded with a clueless, "Cool." I'll never forget that I said "Cool." and I always remember that when I am in a situation where I should hold my tongue. God I felt like an ass.
7th grade homeroom class. They already had the TV on and I remember specifically watching a replay of the airplane hitting the tower, and a few other misc portions of video. Had blink 182 playing on my cd player the whole time, as the volume was down on the tv and no one in the class really understood the extent of what was happening.
Did not really hit me until I got home that day and listened the presidents speech...
I was in my first period Social Studies class - 8th grade. The rest of the day was completely awkward, but we were mostly naive and unaware.
