I have much respect for what my Mother did as well as the way she did it. I have had this conversation many times with both the people that "pamper" their children as well as were pampered. It has been my experience that without consequence there is lack of value in our life.

Not to say abuse is warranted or correct, but the lack of teaching "if you do this, then that will happen" is leading to denial of ownership.

P.S. Your seem to be pretty creative...
Ya well I didn't fare so well in early socialization.... :P
"This is a ridiculous cause and effect suggestion."
"Yeah, kind of like the sun rising and then morning happening, eh? What are they trying to pull on us?"

"If I wanted to hear from an asshole, I'd fart into a microphone."

"It's easy. Take the last f*ck, and let it go, and thus you shall have no more f*cks to give."

From the looks of it, from both current and previous posts, you didn't fair well in a lot of things. Though I am sure there is someone to blame besides yourself. I had soap put in my mouth as a child and I'm a fawkin' boss now. Because of that reason? No. Because I was taught discipline growing up in all aspects. If you don't do shit right, there is punishment. Along with punishment there is teaching on how to improve and move forward. Couldn't have asked for better parents.

A whole lot of failure also leads to creativity. :P

And the way you punish your kids isn't the key; its consistency.
