Let's see.... I remember when you could get in a fight with a black kid at school and it wasn't considered a hate crime. I remember when people who came to this country would aspire to become citizens and were proud to serve their new country and make it better. I remember when people living on welfare were ridiculed and shamed into bettering themselves. I remember when the government tried to keep the budget in balance. I remember when doctors would come to your house and treat you, instead of having you sit for hours in a waiting room with 20 other sick people.

I remember when I was only allowed to wear dresses to school and blue jeans was not proper clothing.
I remember starting each day saying The Pledge of Allegiance.
I remember when children had bible school and were allowed to say a prayer without being expelled.

I remember awesome things like spending time with the family and having family values, sitting at the table for dinner with the family. I remember when getting a basketball hoop meant you were the coolest kid on the block.

Anyway, about my washtub...I just used it that morning to wash my turkey, which in those days was known as a "walking bird". We'd always have walking bird on Thanksgiving with all the trimmings: cranberries, Injun eyes, yams stuffed with gunpowder. Then we'd all watch football, which in those days was called baseball.
