Due to the enclosure size, any driver with a higher excursion should fit your bill. As these tend to be designed for smaller volumes.

    update on these speakers......

i tried many different speakers in my gto's non of which had any kind of definition.

these speakers i got are fenominal. the TX6's in the doors sound superb like they was specifically made for the car, they are crystal clear with a good deep bass and clear mids along with the high range.
the MTX RTC693's are just as happy sat in the little enclosures. they also kick out a fair amount of bass and have crystal clear mids and highs. and all this is from a stock mitsu head unit. i'm very tempted to fit the alpine head unit from the van too see how well these perfom powered from that, knowing that the alpine creates a very nice sound quality.

all in all i highly recommend these speakers. (no bass box required) they are just out of running in time and will test them fully later.

3-Way Speaker System with Carbon Polyproylene Hybrid Cone Woofer

Kenwood's KFC-X692 speaker system features very cool design advantages like a carbon polypropylene hybrid cone. The soft dome tweeter provides smooth high-end response, and we offset the tweeter mount to reduce standing waves between the midrange and tweeter. In addtion to remarkable sound quality, the KFC-X692's shallow mounting depth fits easily in import vehicles.
I have these also and the matching 6.5's in the front but do not have my car pc connected yet...

fitted the Alpine head unit today, its possibly the best sounding system i have had to date without a bass box.
