    Spun bearing club

Of all the bearings being spun in all the 3/S cars, what motor and what mileage are they letting go at?

Spun on a bearing on my first TT, at 59,8xx miles. Just barely under warranty still, thankfully. I had just bought the car about a month or two prior, so no telling what causes led to it. At the time, I was in 3rd gear going about 55-60 mph, or around 4k rpm IIRC.

My current car I bought with 51k on it about 10 years ago, now it has 91k, and is still running strong.

There is no set mileage they let go at. There are people at over 200k miles on the original engine. Its all in proper care.

I've only ever heard of 2 SOHC 3s's spinning bearings. I've got two spun bearing DOHC NA engines in my garage though.

I bought my car w/a spun bearing and it sat at 147k. 150 seems to be about the average from what I've found on turbos.

Well I'm rolling 146K on my DOHC. Just wondering if I should watch it on how hard I drive it.

if you want to keep it for a long time and avoid the bearing fairy then install a new oil pump and bearings.

89k BUT I was running closed wastegates on my 9b's and I saw the gauge hit 20psi plenty of times.

i had 1 car spin a bearing that was a black GTO TT. and that was fault of my own. i cleaned the block off with a spining wire brush and un-knowingly dropped a couple of bristles down the oil way, one of these went through the oil pump and lodged in the pressure relief valve.

non of my others have ever suffered this, i'll post again when we come back from a europe tour, which i'm more than confident will go without a hitch on a motor thats covered 166,000 already.

    166,000KM or Miles?

You should have a unit disclaimer in your sig.
