How much does your health/dental insurance cost you?

We pay about $800 a month for medical/dental/vision, with no deductable. We also get a $3500 per year flex account so no co pays on meds. This is for a family of 4. Every doctor/dentist/optometrist, whatever make comments all the time about how good out plan is. My wife just had 2 root canals, for $0 out of pocket. Our youngest has severe autism and has several therapies a week, his brother is at the doctor all the time with 11 year old boy injuries, we get our money's worth. This is through Banner health, the hospital my wife works at.

Thats a damn good plan. I wish I didnt have a copay on dental.

The copay was $120 ish, but was paid out of the flex account.

Interesting thread to read today. I'm meeting with someone about health insurance this afternoon. If we went through Alan's COBRA, it's going to cost us $1503 per MONTH! That's for both of us, BCBS, $50 co-pay on prescriptions, $20 co-pay on office visits, and includes dental and VSP vision (not great, but it's something and it's very inexpensive). I'm asthmatic so we need to have coverage... Ours ends tomorrow. Working quick to get something else.

Through my company it would have been $360 a month for my wife and I. But we declined that since we wouldn't have used it much.

My wife's work its $110 a month for both of us per month.

Hi Lori, My BCBS is $1895 per month family rate standard option. Same co-pays and they cover only 75% of doctor bills after the deductable is met.
The high option family rate is $2675 per month then they pay 95% of the doctor bill after deductable is met. And deductables are lower.
P.S. We pay the entire bill, no employer help like many people get.

Just medical, I figured it'd be best to have my own coverage that stays with me so I don't sweat it when switching jobs in the future. It went up $150 from last year, I'm 20.

$3k/yr, med only, me only, with a $2,500 deduct. Going to go up at the first of the year, too. :sadpanda:

Holy fuck! Thats $22,740/year which is undoubtedly more than a lot of the people in this thread make. Is that really the most cost effective option?

So I guess my rates are a little on the high side, but pretty close to average.

I pay cash for all of my medical needs, because I can't afford decent insurance.

My liability guy says there are basically two "worthwhile" plans; Blue Cross (full coverage/pre-existing conditions), and the "Other" (full coverage/no pre-existing conditions).

For myself and my wife, the Blue Cross plan would be about $4200 per month.

The "Other" would be about $2800/month.

These costs are, of course, before "underwriting".
