Redd, if that didn't have the artist in the title, I would have guessed KMFDM. Seriously.

Evan, I don't have a frickin clue. There's about a billion songs about drugs and sex:

    Billy Joel - Captain Jack
3 Dog Night - Mama Told Me Not to Come
Rolling Stones - Mother's Little Helper

You're gonna have to be a bit more descriptive. Or you can try humming it into this:

Search for Music Using Your Voice by Singing or Humming, View Music Videos, Join Fan Clubs, Share with Friends, Be Discovered and Much More For Free! - midomi.com

I can't help it that you watch so much TV that your mind now associates every song ever written with some form of commercial goods. Maybe you should spend more time outside.

Every time this song gives me the goose bumps.

Other than Remission, this is my favorite album by Mastodon. The album Leviathan is loosely based on the book Moby Dick.

Nah, you just seem to have an affinity for over-played pop songs. But, seriously, I do like that tune.

YT won't let you embed with a time stamp for some reason. You have to just use a regular url.

Nah. Overplayed pop songs would be like that "take a dirty picture" song. fuck i wanna stab ke$sha in the face with a pitchfork.

I just like midnight city because it has that same kind of cool vibe that "Days go by" or "Clubbed to death" has. Most radio music I hear these days just has too much that's uninspired and formulaic about it.

    P.S.
How does a song get to be so popular? Well occasionally--not a lot, mind you--but occasionally a song has enough merit that it spread its popularity without having to resort to being force-fed into listeners ears on your "pop-hits" music stations.

And now on an entirely different note...this is about as simple and formulaic as you can get...but it still makes me want to smoke a bowl and kick back to reggae for 3 hours. (Oh, and if this is overplayed pop music, I NEED to know what music stations you are listening to, FFS.)

If it's pop, I hear it on tv(which is why I associate your favorite list with commercials), or around the 'net. I don't listen to top 40 stations. Ever. They're 98.3% garbage. Like that Kesha song you mentioned...never even heard of it and I know most all of her crap from simply milling around.

I only listen to classic stations. Mostly rock, but there's a 50's-60's doo-wop station I like too. So, if it came out within the last 20 years, it's most likely not going to play on my stations. In the wife's vehicle with XM, I still go for the classic stations. Except then I get to hear some old country and rap.

i see. well i won't take it personally if a crotchety ole' fuddy-duddy like you doesn't like some of the new music i like--even if i am picky about the newer music i listen to.

i do listen to rather broad base though. here's some in my playlist you might like:

^One of my top 5 favorite songs. If you can't feel that, you're fucking dead.
