That's def a good idea to have them rebuilt. The longer you run them the more chance you have of doing damage. I just rebuilt a set of turbos that had 500 miles on them since a spun bearing. Guy put a new motor in but didnt change the oil cooler or flush out the turbos. They had no shaft play at the time of the guy spinning the bearing. In that 500 or so miles the bushings and the turbine shafts managed to go on them to the point where when I got the turbos I had to replace both turbine shafts.
Let me know, if you just want the 15G's rebuilt I can do that or if you want them upgraded we can do that too.
...Must...not...send money from...credit...card....
Awesome deal here. I really don't mean to offend here but for those of us who are unfamiliar with your work, how many sets of these have you done before? The recent LMI scare and crap just makes me weary...I know I have seen you around these boards LOTS but is there any type of guarantee on these guys? Also, any chance you could do build a 19t-hl? How long might you be doing this? I CANT be spending the money right now (stoopid medical bills) but would absolutely love these in the future.
Oh no offense taken at all. One has to be wise when spending your money on parts. As for how many we have done. We've donet 2 sets of plain old 9B rebuilds, 1 set of upgrade to 13G's (which according to the guy (a good friend of mine) are working great), and then this set tonight was the 3rd set of 15G's. 19T's are uncharted territory but I've got a set that I am going to be taking apart and taking all the measurements from so we will have no problem duplicating them.
I'm looking forward to getting a set of 19T's done, speaking of 19T's, I just ordered 8 compressor wheels tonight along with enough components for another 8 rebuilds .
Also, in terms of quality control, the compressor wheels and turbine wheels are supposedly balanced to within spec when we receive them, and if you speak to alot of turbo shops they dont do any additional balancing. However as an added measure to ensure that the turbo has a long life I have the turbine shaft and compressor wheel balanced together. This adds another 80 dollars to my cost as I cant do this in house, but I feel that its worth it to make sure that the product and service I am selling is a good one. If one of my turbos failed due to a machining or assembly issue I would repair it for free. This is of course assuming the failure wasn't due to external influences like foreign matter in the oil (metal shavings, coolant etc), improper lubrication, overheating due to blocked coolant line etc.
So that being said! You know you want some bigger turbos

Are these conversions all using the stock housing? I guess I'm asking, do they all use the stock coolant/oil feed and return lines?

Thanks for all of the information and I know I want some bigger turbos - I'd just have to spend more for...... a piggyback and injectors *gasps* holy cow, I almost have all of the supporting mods waiting for some love! Any anticipated end date on these guys? Just wondering appproximately how much time I can ponder it all for
