Thread: Good place to buy OEM parts?

Good place to buy OEM parts?

Some recommendations in the past have been Rockville, MD (now a kia dealer I guess), and Tallahassee Mitsubishi. I am getting ready to do a 60k and want to go OEM on the tensioner and water pump, and would like to hear of recent experiences buying OEM on-line (i.e. did they get the part right, etc).

    Thanks

hmm, took a look around at partsdinosaur.com and a few other places, and see that the 'airtex AW7129' is an aftermarket water pump. Partsdinosaur.com had good reviews from what I have heard and when I have balked in the past about in not being OEM people say dinosaur knows what he's doing doesn't sell garbage.

Well, did a search for airtex waterpump and found this on the old forum, a dude had one blow up on him:

take a close look at this pic, and when you read upsidedown you see '7129' on the casting?

And take a look at this gem of a pic, and imagine a timing belt being shredded by that pile of shrapnel:

Now, long ago as a youngster I had a crap parts-store aftermarket waterpump take a dump on me in my old old car (1974 plymouth fury, no emissions, that I dearly wish I still owned) and let me tell you replacing a WP in an old v8 sedan is cake compared to what a water pump taking a dump would do in a stealth. Once bitten twice shy.

By the way is there any way to make this text entry box bigger? I can only see 5 lines at a time when composing.

Cherry Hill yet again. I'm on an opposite side of the country from them and not only do the items arrive astonishingly quick but you cannot beat their prices.

No sheet! I had one of those in my youth as well!
Dog poop brown with a 360, it looked like the Blues Mobile.....(I know, the BM was a Dodge..)
With no cat it was one of the last (maybe THE last) American car that could run leaded gas.
It got totaled when an old Cutlass T-boned me, but what a mess it made of the Cutlass..
A grand old boat it was!

Oh, and back on topic, I'll put in another vote for Cherry Hill.
