This is not true. The fuel pump does NOT need to be hotwired. Vira's car runs just fine with a 99 Montero ECU and adapter harness, without a hotwired fuel pump. IIRC the hotwired fuel pump thing came up from the later single chip ECUs that combine the TCU and ECU chip into one. Jeff can elaborate more, but I know the fuel pump does not need to be hot wired.

Active Aero should work, because I dont think there is any hardware in the ECU that deals with active aero since it has its own computer. Active exhaust is missing components so it wouldn't work, along with the stock boost gauge and a few other things like stock boost control.

Oh, excellent, I hadn't heard about it running without a hotwired pump. I may move this up on my list, since I've got the 98 montero ECU waiting to be modded, but don't have an AFPR yet to do the fuel pump hotwire and it's too cold to be running wiring from battery to trunk in the snow, and I was going to replace the pump while I was back there.

Jeff is doing a FANTASTIC job on all of this.

Thanks for the info. I doubt too many people are going to be concerned with losing the stock boost solenoid / boost gauge. For me, I removed the solenoid years ago, and if the stock boost gauge stopped working tomorrow I probably wouldn't even realize it. I can't remember the last time I looked at that gauge.

I'm not sure if you're willing to tell us (and understand if you're not), but I'm just curious what modifications need to be made to the montero ECU to get it to work?

It'll run w/o a hotwired pump but the relay will never switch to lower the voltage. Nothing really to be concerned about.

Installed the Evo 560s this morning. Flashed the ECU and the car started and idled like it was stock.

Went out and did an initial test drive at the same 14-14.5psi I had it set at. Only thing that changed between the logs, like I expected, was the IDC. It dropped 20%. The AFR and everything else was nearly identical. Here are some videos.

So when is this going to be available to the rest of us, instead of being tormented and teased with your results?

I'm not sure, I wasn't doing the hardware side, Brett was. I know he's going through a lot of crap right now, and this got moved to the back burner for him, but he's still working on it.

I got my car tuned at 18psi, and its quite fun now

Set the car to 18psi now. I have to play around with my Profec some, cause it was only holding 16.5psi to redline. I'm not sure if its the EBC or possibly the wastegates getting blown open. I'm going to play around some more, then try to adjust the wastegates if I determine its them. I know you can adjust the end, to effectively make the rod shorter.
