Why such an attack Donnie? Makes no sense at all.

If you are attempting the same thing, why would you attack someone that is attempting as well for the greater good?

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

    1. because these ECUs can be found a lot cheaper... Price gouging (so he is taken advantage of the community based on possible development)
    2. He is selling it based on the possibility it MIGHT work-- but he doesn't state that in the listing
    3. Some poor noob is going to think it WILL work when that has yet to be proven.

So if it doesn't work, he sold somebody an ECU based on the fact that it will work. That is the problem.

I believe it called price gouging based on speculation.

My applogies, I misunderstood your statement. I read your post as if you intended to send the guys modding the ecu's, Jeff and Brett, your ecu to be modded or that you intended to mod the ecu yourself with information from Jeff and Brett. So my response was pointed such that it would inform both you and other people to not jump the gun and buy stuff for this tuning solution just yet.

If you plan on modding the ecu yourself then go for it. However there is no intention to publish a "how to" or to walk people through the conversion at this time or in the near future. This effort has taken quite of bit time and as such the informaiton will not be given away, especially to those who would be looking to use the information to make a profit. If someone is going to sell the solution for a profit logic would dictate the people that did the work should reap the benefits, not someone looking to make a quick buck on someone else's work.

This platform is thirsting for skilled individuals to lead the way with innovation and based on your statements you are more qualified. Since you clearly don't need any help from here you should branch out and start the open discussion and teaching thread you mention, it will be far more valuable than continuing to post in a thread where your motives and credibility have been questioned.

Actually it is proven. My car has been running on a modified 99 Montero ECU, with 99VR4 code, flashed for 450cc injectors, 13t's at 14-14.5psi, with no knock on 91 octane for over 5 weeks now. On my recent trip to dallas I got 25mpg.

But the ECU has to be modified, and modified correctly in order to work.

This is the key, and those instructions and parts are not, and highly likely will not be, public.

For the people who don't want to be ripped off, and will pay a little bit to support the time, effort, and research financing that people have put into this ... Aaron, 99 VR4 and Gatecrasher will have a solution in the semi-near future. That is, unless antics like this buying-and-price-screwing continues; if that's the case, you can probably bank that they'll shut it all down and keep the parts and information to themselves.

Unless the master and savior "donniekak" releases all of this prized info that he seems to be the only one on earth that knows it. Of course, considering he's charging $250 for an ECU that is under $99 shipped ... prepare to pay as much for his "solution" as you do for an AEM.

    Well, I stand corrected.

But the information to properly modify the ECU to work is not out in public correct?

So the link he used to sell his ECU was based on development, at least that was my understanding.

So basically who ever bought the ECU will not be able to correctly modify it using the thread he linked in his ad.

Correct, the info on what needs to be modified is not public. He bought a Montero ECU, then tried to turn it for a profit based on what we are doing.

Which is pretty fucked up. Might as well change his name to Venik.

When I read the "what you do for a living" thread I discovered there's a lot of brilliant people in this community. Sounds like some bright minds are working hard on this one. It's good to see them team together and build amazing things. What I'm hearing is it's a promising tuning solution with a lot of compromises.

Next year is going to be pretty cool as we'll hit the 20 year anniversary and a number of emerging tech and new platform ideas will be unveiled. Keep up the hard work guys.

Way cool that there may be other options on the horizon. This looks promising.
