My CD changer crapped out on my Spyder recently. Instead of hunting for a new one I decided to put an MP3 player in it. These days you can get them very small and very cheap. I wanted to put one in, but have it as well hidden as possible but still be easy to use. I know a lot of people use the aux port on there radio to just hook their phones to it. But I hate pulling the phone out every time to do this and then have that just laying somewhere.
So I found a small MP3 player on Amazon that goes either in a watch band or a clip-on bracket. Found a thin 3.5mm aux cable and bought a USB charger that connects into your 12v wiring. I hid the aux cable under the switch bracket for the convertible top. The active aero or storage tray is on other 3/S models. Would work the same. Cable is thin enough to squeeze in between. Tapped the USB charger into the wiring on the cigarette lighter. Then popped the tab in the bottom of the center counsel up enough to fish the wires through. I'll include a screen shot of what I bought on Amazon and a few pics from the installation. Maybe this will give some others ideas on adding a discrete MP3 functionality into a OEM looking interior.
