    Expertise needed

Those who know these cars better than I do may be able to render some help.

I don't have the opportunity to spend a bunch of time with my '92 RT TT, and this spring, it woke up with a check engine light, the dash cluster coolant warning light lit, and a non-functioning gas gauge.

I haven't played with wiring or anything else, recently.

Coolant and oil levels are good, it runs fine.

Thinking something quirky - any ideas?

Kevin, don't you have the BlackStealth stuff installed?
Does what you have give you any info on the CEL?
Are you sure it's the coolant light and not the washer fluid light?

Any chance you had friendly little critters where you stored your car? (thinking the gas gauge maybe chewed wires on top of the tank).

    Let's get this solved MEOW!!!!

Are you sure the gas light is non functioning or is the level high enough to keep the light off?

    Bob!

I do have the LCDBC installed, but have to update to the latest software, which may render some info; as I said, I'm kinda in 'jump in and drive' mode, because I can't find the time to do the update and sort all that.

I'll check whether it's the washer fluid light and not the coolant - it would be about my speed to make that mistake, frazzled as I am these days.

I don't think I've had mice - I recollect seeing the fuel gauge problem when I parked it last year before I moved, so...

    Brian:

The gas gauge is reading empty, no low-fuel light is on, and I believe I may only be a gallon or so shy of a full tank.

Thanks for the replies, guys...Ima go check it right now, though I won't get to the update for a while.

Never went anywhere, but have been totally sidetracked by events.

I moved my parents up here from GA, moved house, bit off more than I can chew...the usual stuff.

Brian, just in case it turns out the low-coolant light is legit (was in garage but no keys, looked at washer fluid level - it's full), do you have a sender I can snag?

    Kevin,
My 92TT has gone through 2 washer tanks because the float quit FLOATING. They go bad like CRAZY.
Do you have your car's manual?
In there is a dash light drawing showing which lights are what...

    Just offering some help here...

    Really appreciate the help, Bob.

I have a manual (somewhat oddly, it's for a '93), and I'll try to get to this in the next few days.

I'm a little nonplussed at how 'unfamiliar' the car has become since I parked it last year...hoping stuff with my folks settles down to the point I can spend a day with the damned thing and do some stuff.

I never even got to start it since last August, until I ran it last weekend.

Having BIG second-thoughts about selling it...had been thinking I'd have to be retired to enjoy it anymore.

Had something kinda cool happen (rare event, these days) a few weeks ago - got a letter from the state office of retirement services asking "do you want your pension or not?"

Had no idea I could collect at 60 - so I've basically lost a year of pension, etc., but the fact THEY approached ME was a bit of a shock - I wasn't even thinking about it because I'd been "retired" since '97, and all my personal papers went up in flames when I got divorced.

Anyway, I was able to parlay a piece of my pension into Blue Cross, plus dental, vision, etc; I can even see a shrink for cheap!

Thinking of getting my knees done, maybe get my eyes fixed...IF I can find the time.

Just let me know when you get to it, and I'll try to chime in with words of wisdom (I think I have 2 or 3).

    Bob.
